FIRST MONDAY APRIL 2007
Present were Sharon Paige, Janet Bloom, Catherine Sikora, Dotti Anita Taylor, Carol Sudhalter. Fran McIntyre stopped in briefly.
We listened to Sharon's rendition of "Give a Little Whistle" from Pinocchio, part of her work-in-progress to record the tunes of lyricist Ned Washington. Also listened to Josephine Livoti's "Sweet Happy Life".
After that, this really interesting and magical thing happened. With some direction from Janet Bloom, who does some work with specific types of visualization and imaging, we took out our flutes (Dotti and Carol) and soprano saxophone (Catherine) and Sharon added in her voice, and following a verbal description of an image, we all played together a spontaneous reaction to that description, following each other's very visual musical lines into a blend of color and harmony and thought and feeling that has never happened before at a First Monday! It developed in a very natural way, into a complete piece. Then we did another. By that time, it was sad to have to go home!! We all hope to do more of this.
